Periodical Examinations
To minimise health and safety risk in the workplace, certain organisations will offer regular health examinations for employees and executives who do not work in hazardous environments.
These assessments, which are similar to the pre-placement examination, are preventive in nature and stress the early detection of disease or predisposing factors to disease.
Employers are encouraged to provide these examinations free of charge, for a number of reasons:
- Early detection and treatment of illnesses protects employees
- Examinations reduce absenteeism related to illness
- They improve work productivity
- They often prevent long-term disability
